At Torch, we view every wind farm development project as a true partnership with the landowner. With our belief in a simple, straightforward business agreement and our low-impact land use policies, our goal is the creation of a win-win relationship with landowners that results in the profitable generation of clean, renewable energy. Our productive staff brings projects to market quickly and leverages off our network of seasoned land professionals. We execute an aggressive yet focused development plan targeting areas with the greatest wind resource and access to transmission lines. Our focused strategy provides us with a competitive advantage in terms of local knowledge and relationships, which are critical in this industry.
How It Works
Our development process is designed to provide a simple and transparent land lease process, while expediting the project timeline to ensure that each project has a maximum probability for success. We initially provide landowners with a short-term license agreement and then follow up with a long-term lease once adequate wind resource and transmission availability are demonstrated. The license agreement permits Torch to install a meteorological (“met”) tower on landowner’s property to begin measuring the wind and assessing energy generation potential. Providing the long term lease agreement shortly after the license agreement allows landowners to work with counsel while the wind resource is evaluated. This contemporaneous approach ensures the project a more competitive position relative to other projects in the area.
